The Mentoring Project Garage Sale!

Thank you for your interest in The Mentoring Project and for coordinating a garage sale on our behalf.

Three years ago I started The Mentoring Project while researching a book I wrote for kids growing up without fathers. I wanted to partner the 27-million kids growing up in America with a positive role model from the church. Because kids are more likely to make good decisions if they have a positive role model, the church in America can, in only one generation, curb teen suicide, teen drop-out rates, unwanted pregnancy and abortion and in another generation significantly reduce divorce rates thus stopping a cycle that, I believe, is the cause of many of our cultures problems.

We believe within twenty years, we can shut down a significant percentage of American prisons using existing resources and tapping into the will of the church to provide father figures for the fatherless.

This effort is not without expense. We are committed to seeing this through, and while we have an economically efficient model, there is a cost. We are talking about recruiting and training millions of men and working to maintain relationships with each of them, supporting them with the encouragement and resources they need to change the life of each child we mentor.

Your help is greatly appreciated. And you can have fun, spread awareness, and even create community by helping us raise funds. The proceeds you raise at your garage sale will be used to train mentors and reach fatherless kids.
