Join us at Crossings Community Center on Saturday, December 8 from 10:30am to Noon for this festive event. Wear your favorite holiday sweater and bring your family. It is our goal to have a digital photo ready for you and your family by the time Christmas gets here. Let the merriment begin!
OKC mentors - let’s get LOUD in LOUD CITY! Join us for our December #MentorMoment as we cheer on the Oklahoma City Thunder as they face the Los Angeles Clippers at Chesapeake Energy Arena. Tickets are first come, first served. So act fast!
Several times a year, we conduct live mentor trainings in cities outside of our program area (OKC). During the training, we will brief your staff as well as help you recruit mentors and then train them at your event. The goal of these mentor trainings is to: 1) Strengthen and expand your existing mentoring community or 2) Help you launch a new mentoring community in your city.
The Mentoring Project's #MentorToolkit has allowed several groups to start and / or enhance their own mentoring initiatives. Those who use TMProject's resources are considered Mentor Link organizations, and our Mentor Link Spotlight series will highlight those programs and their successes. Today we feature Anna Purpero of Paper City Mentoring Project in Chillicothe, Ohio.
The story of fatherlessness is being written into the heart of our generation. It is heard in our songs, seen in our movies, read in our blogs. It is a story of shame, loneliness, and rejection. A story of missed potential.
But fatherlessness is more than a personal tragedy. It is a growing epidemic. Fatherlessness is the driving force behind gangs, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and suicide. And all too often, the fatherless are either marginalized or ignored.
Weaving in his own experience of fatherlessness, TMProject President John Sowers shows how awareness, compassion, and intentional intergenerational mentoring can offer a generation hope - hope that will write new stories for generations to come.
